WHY CHOOSE WIRA PRAXIS

What a regional practice
can offer that others cannot

Our work is shaped by deep familiarity with the businesses, communities, and operating conditions of Sarawak and Sabah — and by a commitment to producing output that owners can use.

AT A GLANCE

Six reasons firms in East Malaysia work with us

Regional depth

We have worked in East Malaysia for over seven years. We know the local regulatory environment, the community dynamics, and the market structures that shape how firms here operate — and we do not need to learn them on your time.

Deliverables you can act on

Every engagement produces a written document — not a slide deck, not a spreadsheet. Something the owner can read, share with a senior staff member, and refer back to when making decisions.

Transparent fees and scope

Fees are fixed and stated clearly before any work starts. There are no discovery phases that expand unexpectedly. You know what you are buying, and the scope is set out in writing.

Community-aware approach

Our NCR advisory work recognises that commercial and community interests in Sarawak are often intertwined. We approach these engagements with the patience and cultural awareness they require.

Sector grounding

Our sector specialist has direct operational experience in plantation and timber management. Resource-sector reviews are informed by someone who has worked inside those cycles — not by desk research alone.

Strict confidentiality

What you share with us stays with us. We do not reference one client's situation when working with another, and we do not use engagement materials in any other context.

EXPERTISE

What seven years in East Malaysia gives us

Advisory work in Sarawak and Sabah requires a familiarity that takes years to develop. The regulatory environment differs from Peninsular Malaysia in important ways — land classification, native customary rights, the role of state agencies in resource-sector oversight. Our team has accumulated that familiarity through direct engagement, not through study. When we sit with a business owner in Kuching or Sandakan, we are not orienting ourselves; we are working.

  • Deep familiarity with the Sarawak Land Code and NCR framework
  • Direct experience with plantation, timber and palm oil operating cycles
  • Established relationships with regional professional and regulatory bodies

PROCESS

A methodology built around listening

Our engagements follow a consistent structure: an initial conversation to agree on scope, a period of observation and structured discussion with the leadership team, and a written output reviewed and refined in dialogue with the client. We do not arrive with a pre-formed view. The analysis develops from what we find, not from a template we apply before arriving.

  • Structured scope agreement before any chargeable work begins
  • Site visits and direct observation, not only document review
  • Draft review with client before any document is considered final

CLIENT EXPERIENCE

A small team and close working relationships

We take on a limited number of engagements each year. This is deliberate. The kind of work we do is not scalable — it requires attention, and attention is finite. Clients who work with Wira Praxis are working directly with the people named on this website, not with a junior associate operating from a framework. We think this matters, and so do most of the clients who come back to us.

  • Named lead for every engagement — no handoffs to junior staff
  • Direct communication throughout — not through account managers
  • Response to enquiries within one working day

VALUE AND PRICING

Clear fees with no hidden expansion

Our three services are priced at RM 660, RM 2,300, and RM 3,300. These are fixed fees for defined scopes of work. We do not offer open-ended advisory arrangements or charge by the hour — arrangements which, in our experience, create uncertainty for the client and perverse incentives for the advisor. If circumstances during an engagement suggest that additional work would be useful, we discuss it explicitly and agree a separate scope before proceeding.

OUTCOMES

What you take away from an engagement

The primary output of every engagement is a written document — purposefully brief, free of jargon, and structured for use by the owner and their close team. Beyond the document, clients typically describe two outcomes: a clearer sense of where the firm's real challenges lie, and a set of specific considerations to act on in the coming months. We do not measure success by the sophistication of our analysis; we measure it by whether the document gets used.

HOW WE COMPARE

Wira Praxis vs. typical consulting arrangements

TYPICAL PROVIDERS

  • Kuala Lumpur or Peninsular-based, with limited time in East Malaysia
  • Hourly billing or open retainers — costs that are difficult to plan
  • Framework-driven approach applied regardless of the firm's context
  • Slide-deck deliverables that require interpretation by the owner
  • Limited understanding of NCR land dynamics and community arrangements
  • Junior staff assigned after initial partner meetings

WIRA PRAXIS

  • Based in Kuching — familiar with East Malaysia's business environment
  • Fixed fees for defined scopes — agreed in writing before work starts
  • Approach developed from observation of the specific firm and context
  • Written documents designed for use by the owner and close team
  • Dedicated NCR advisory practice with community engagement experience
  • Named lead works directly on the engagement throughout

WHAT SETS US APART

Things we offer that are genuinely uncommon

NCR-specific advisory practice

We believe we are one of very few consulting practices in Malaysia that offer a structured advisory service focused specifically on the intersection of commercial operations and Native Customary Rights land. This is not an add-on to a general service; it is one of three core offerings.

Operational experience in the resource sector

Our sector specialist is not a generalist who has studied the plantation and timber industries. He has worked inside them. The operating model reviews we conduct benefit from someone who understands what the numbers and workflows look like from the inside.

Documents written to be read

Our deliverables are written in plain English, without the defensive verbosity that makes many consulting reports difficult to use. We write for the reader, not for the record. If a section of a draft does not add to the owner's understanding, we cut it.

Annual diagnostic designed for SME use

The SME Diagnostic is priced and scoped specifically for smaller businesses — firms that benefit from an outside perspective but cannot justify a large consulting fee. At RM 660 for a four-week engagement, it sits within the reach of most owner-managed businesses in Sarawak and Sabah.
